SUMMARY:Islamically Integrated Psychology
DESCRIPTION:As we discussed various approaches to psychology and psychotherapy with recognized experts in our previous seminars of Psychology Series\, this time we will host Dr. Hooman Keshavarzi to learn more about Islamic Psychology. \nIn this session\, we will inquire the following topics under the guidance of Dr. Keshavarzi. What does Islam say about psychology? What are the dynamics of relationship between religion and science in Islamic tradition? What do the texts of Islamic scholars teach us about psychology? Can we form a connection between Islamic tradition and psychology today? All these critical topics and more will be covered during our webinar. We are going to listen Dr. Hooman Keshavarzi and learn from his remarkable knowledge on Islamic Psychology. \n*The event will be held in English. \nWho is Dr. Hooman Keshavarzi?\nDr. Hooman Keshavarzi holds a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology\, a Masters of Clinical Psychology and a Bachelors of Science – specialist psychology track/minor in Islamic Studies. \nHe is currently an assistant professor at Ibn Haldun University (Istanbul\, Turkey)\, Adjunct Professor at American Islamic College\, Hartford Seminary\, instructor of psychology at Islamic Online University and founding director of Khalil Center – the first Islamically oriented professional community mental wellness center and largest provider of Muslim mental healthcare in the North America. He is also a fellow at the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding at the Global Health Center\, conducting research on topics related to Muslims and Mental Health. \nHooman Keshavarzi is an international public speaker and trainer currently serving as a Clinical supervisor of graduate students of clinical psychology at the Village of Hoffman Estates (DHS). He also delivers seminars on specialized topics around multiculturalism and psychology. In addition to his academic training\, Hooman Keshavarzi has studied in Islamic theology in a ‘classical madressa’ approach at Darul Qasim in Chicago\, USA. His research interests include Islamic psychology\, tasawuf\, spirituality\, forensic psychology in Islamic Jurisprudence\, clinical mental health practice\, community mental healthcare research and process outcome clinical studies. \nregıstratıon Form
