DESCRIPTION:In this talk titled “Psychology and Islam: Deep Roots and Blooming Futures\,” Dr. Awaad\, a Professor of Psychiatry at Stanford University School of Medicine\, will explore the historical and theoretical foundations that bridge Islamic thought and modern psychology. The event will also discuss approaches to psychological resilience\, social transformation\, and individual well-being from an Islamic perspective. \nFollowing the event\, there will also be a book signing session with Dr. Rania Awaad and her co-author\, Merve Nursoy-Demir. \nKatılım için kayıt zorunludur. \nProgram dili İngilizce’dir. Türkçe çeviri olmayacaktır. \nETKİNLİĞE KATILWho is Dr.Rania Awaad ?\nDr. Rania Awaad is a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Stanford University School of Medicine where she is the Director of the Stanford Muslim Mental Health & Islamic Psychology Lab. She has pioneered by establishing the first Muslim Mental Health Community Advisory Board (BAMMH CAB) in the US. She serves as the Executive Director of Maristan\, a holistic mental health nonprofit serving Muslim communities. she pursued classical Islamic studies in Damascus\, Syria and holds certifications (ijaza) in Qur’an\, Islamic Law and other branches of the Islamic Sciences. Some of her recent academic publications include an edited volume on “Islamophobia and Psychiatry” (Springer\, 2019)\, “Applying Islamic Principles to Clinical Mental Health” (Routledge\, 2020) and “Maristāns and Islāmic Psychology\, A Historical Model for Modern Implementation” (Routledge\, 2025).
