OUR TRAVEL TO EGYPT

 |
Two weeks ago with a group of people from BURA we travelled to Egypt on an excursion through Cairo and Alexandria. Our tour covered touristic and historical places in Egypt, as well as Cairo International Book Fair and also the river Nile that gives life to Egypt. We had some encounters to promote ongoing relations with a number of Egyptian cultural and academic institutions including Al-Azhar and Cairo American University.
Here is the first stage of our visit which was to cover Cairo.

Islam is an Inseparable Building Block of Europe

EMU had their voice heard for the first time on 13 May 2005 when they made a press statement known as Istanbul Declaration, the main theme of which can be summarised as "Islam is an inseparable building block of Europe ."

Meaningful Visit by President Akkoc
|
|
|
BURA President Akkoc visited Lebanon's Istanbul Embassy and talked to Ambassador Dr Tanous Aoun. Vice President Murat Ellialti, Member of Board of Directors and Head of Foreign Relations Committee Leyla Melisa Cavdar and General Secretary Hasan Bacaci accompanied him during the visit.

Western Thrace Won Our Hearts ( II )
|
|
After Gumulcine (Komotini), we set off for Sahin Village, where we spent the night. On our way, we stopped at Yenice Village for a rest.
As we arrived, we were greeted by a surprise: a traditional marriage celebration. We found the villagers rejoicing and singing local folk songs.

The BURA Forest
|
|
|
Under the leadership of our president Aydin Akkoc, we, all together, went tree-planting to the 3500m2 forest area which lies just at the outside of Habipler Village and is allocated to our association. Many of our attendants experienced the pleasure of planting a tree, for the first time.

Eventually, we have a tree planted at Bogazici University
|
|
|
We have intensified our efforts of protection and embellishment of the nature which we initiated two weeks ago forming the BURA Forest with the blue spruce we planted at our university. We beautified the garden of BTS (Albert Long Hall), the one overlooking the Scene, with the ceremony accompanied by our Rector Prof. Dr. Ay?e Soysal; May 29, 2005.

Visits to the EU Institutions
|
|
|
The BURA Committee under the presidency of Mr. Aydin AKKOC has visited the EU Ambassador Mr. Hans-Jorg KRETCHMER, the Turkish EU General Secretary Ambassador Mr. Murat SUNGAR and the National Agency President Mr. Nuri BIRTEK with the aim of conveying their views and opinions on Turkey-the EU relationships and the EU projects.

Nihan Kaya Received Turkish Authors Union Award
|
|
A member of BURA Nihan Kaya was deemed worthy of the best story award by the Turkish Authors' Union. Her book entitled 'Cati Kati?' ('Attic Storey' in English) was published last year.
The book, which was published by Dergah Publications, was appreciated by many circles.
We congratulate Nihan Kaya for her success and hope that her successes will continue.

Prof. Nevzat Yalcintas Evaluated December 17 Decision in BURA
|
|
The second President of the European Security and Cooperation Organization Parliamentarians Assembly (AGITPA) and Turkish Group Head, Istanbul Deputy of Justice and Development Party (AKP) Prof. Nevzat Yalcintas evaluated the European Union's(EU) decision in the Brussels Summit on December 17 in BURA on December 20.
